Many rappers have expanded into fashion—either by launching their own brands or teaming up with big-name companies—and it’s paid off. These moves have often boosted their net worth in a major way.
-
For example, some rapper-owned clothing lines, like Golf Wang and OVO, bring in millions of dollars each year. This steady revenue plays a big role in growing their wealth.
- However, not all rapper-owned clothing lines have been successful. Some have faced setbacks, such as poor business deals or losing their fanbase, resulting in bankruptcy or the need for rebranding.
Hip-hop stands out as a genre where many artists don’t just stick to music—they branch out into all kinds of businesses. One of the most popular moves? Getting into fashion. A lot of rappers start their own clothing lines or team up with major brands to bring their style to life.
The rappers in this list are among some of the highest-grossing of all time. Getting into fashion has boosted these rappers’ already big net worths—even helping some of them reach billionaire status. Meanwhile, others have made hundreds of millions of dollars.
Here are the 10 most successful rapper-owned clothing lines, ranked in order of their revenue.
Updated November 2023: Since the inception of many of these clothing lines, money has been lost versus gained. The exceptions being for Jay-Z, Tyler The Creator, Travis Scott, and Drake. The other clothing lines are trying to bounce back—rebranding or switching things up after losing fans from buyouts or bad business moves.
10 Pusha T: Play Cloths
Net Worth: $14 Million

- Pusha T earned $4 million from the sale of Play Cloths in 2013
Pusha T founded the successful Play Cloths in 2008 alongside his brother, fellow rapper No Malice. The brand focused on high-quality, urban streetwear.
Pusha T sold Play Cloths in 2013 for a cool $4 million. This helped to bump up Pusha T’s net worth tremendously.
While Pusha T does not have any influence on the brand, it does successfully continue to sell today.
9 Tyler The Creator: Golf Wang, $25 Million
Net Worth: $30 Million

- Tyler The Creator makes $15 million yearly from Golf Wang
Tyler, the Creator used to be super controversial—even getting banned from the UK at one point because of his lyrics. But he has certainly matured and even softened in recent years. His clothing brand, Golf Wang, is a testament to that.
The brand got its name as a result of Tyler The Creator using the phrase, “Wang Golf” a lot in his lyrics. Golf Wang sells quirky, brightly colored attire that defies gender stereotypes that fans of the clothing line love.
Golf Wang brings in about $25 million per year, Tyler, the Creator pulls in $15 million from it, making the fashion line a solid money-maker for him.
8 RZA: Wu Wear
Net Worth: $30 Million

- What RZA makes from Wu Wear today is unknown
Started by members of Wu-Tang Clan, Wu Wear was one of the first hip-hop clothing brands. It was a game-changer and opened the door for tons of other rappers to get into fashion.
At the height of Wu Wear’s success in the ’90s, it was generating around $30 million. Sadly, the brand was discontinued in 2008.
However, in 2017, RZA joined forces with Live Nation Merchandise to get the brand up and running again. No one really knows what it’s worth today, but there’s hope that the brand—one that helped kick off the rapper fashion wave—can make a comeback like it did over 20 years ago.
With it being sold in high-end stores like Barney’s, RZA is surely adding to his $30 million net worth.
7 Travis Scott: Nike X
Net Worth: $80 Million

- Scott earns $10 million yearly from the Nike X collaboration
Travis Scott has an impressive net worth of $80 million. Most of his money comes from music and touring, but teaming up with Nike has also given his net worth a nice boost. This is because of his collaboration with Nike for Nike X, Scott makes $10 million per year.
As families continue to settle with Scott as a result of his Astroworld tragedy, his net worth may change. But given that the popularity of his sneaker has not waned, there is no reason that Nike has to drop the rapper from their group of celebrity collaborators.
6 Lil Wayne: Trukfit
Net Worth: $170 Million

- Trukfit once generated $788 million, but after being dropped by all major clothing outlets is worth substantially less today
Ever since receiving a presidential pardon from his pal and former POTUS Donald Trump, the eccentric and polarizing Lil Wayne has reportedly seen his net worth increase to $170 million.
Trukfit once generated a jaw-dropping $788 million a few years after its inception in 2012. However, after being dropped by retailers like Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, and more, the brand is worth substantially less. How much less, has not been reported.
5 Pharrell Williams: Billionaire Boys Club
Net Worth: $250 Million

- Williams generates between $25 to $30 million yearly from Billionaire Boys Club
Pharrell Williams is known for generally avoiding the vices and excesses of celebrity, so it makes sense that his brand favors quality over quantity, releasing small collections at a time.
Billionaire Boys Club was founded in 2003 by Williams and Nigo. The brand focuses on chic, colorful clothing catered to the high-end market and boasts stores in New York, London, and Tokyo.
In 2012, Roc Apparel Group signed a partnership agreement with Billionaire Boys Club.
No longer wanting to partner with Roc Apparel Group, Williams bought his shares of BBC back in 2017. He has since gone on to be the designer of men’s wear at Louis Vuitton, which is expected to help Billionaire Boys Club continue to bring in high revenue as well.
This will all add to Williams’ $250 million net worth, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
4 Drake: OVO
Net Worth: $250 Million

- Drake generates $37.6 million from OVO yearly
Canadian rapper Drake is one of the best-selling musicians in the world and his clothing line OVO (October’s Very Own) is highly successful. Produced by the rapper’s record label of the same name, OVO sells hoodies and other streetwear and is worth an incredible $37.6 million.
This vast revenue has enabled Drake to pursue various charitable endeavors, such as helping a fan pay off their student debts. We’re thankful that the rapper has put his vast fortune to good use.
3 Kanye West: Yeezy
Net Worth: $500 Million

- Yeezy shoes worth $1.3 billion for Adidas
Despite all the negative publicity that has surrounded Kanye West, there is no denying his wealth of creativity as both an artist and a businessman. While that wealth has gone down substantially from $6.6 billion to a $500 million net worth, West still has plenty of money to his name.
A large portion of West’s wealth was once attributed to the enormous popularity of his Yeezy fashion brand. In particular, the brand’s sneaker collaboration with Adidas. This collaboration made Yeezy worth somewhere between $3.2-4.7 billion.
That all changed when Adidas, Gap, Balenciaga, Foot Locker, and more dropped West as a result of his anti-Semitic comments.
While Yeezy shoes are still worth $1.3 billion for Adidas, they are having problems offloading them. However, this will not mean any revenue for Yeezy or for West when or if they do sell.
2 Sean Combs: Sean John
Net Worth: $900 Million

- Sean John’s annual revenue is $8.9 million
Sean Combs has amassed a net worth of $900 million through his various musical and business ventures. In 1998, he launched his clothing line, Sean John, and it proved extremely popular.
It was so successful, in fact, that it branched out into a full lifestyle brand, selling everything from track pants and outerwear to fragrances and face masks, and also features a “Big & Tall” collection.
This success led Combs to sell a majority stake to Global Brands Group in 2016 for $900 million. But the brand was not the same under the company and Global Brands Group subsequently went bankrupt. As such, Combs bought back his shares for $7.5 million.
Sean John was relaunched in May 2023. The line is looking to make $8.9 million this year, a far cry from its once $525 million per year, but a starting point nonetheless.
1 Jay-Z: Rocawear
Net Worth: $2.5 Billion

- Jay-Z sold Rocawear for $204 million
Jay-Z founded Rocawear in 1999 alongside business partner Damon Dash. The pair are both owners of Roc-A-Fella Records and they decided to expand into fashion, which proved to be a wise and fruitful decision.
In 2007, Jay-Z sold Rocawear to Iconix for $204 million, which helped to add to his $2.5 billion net worth. While the brand continued to do well without Jay-Z at the helm, in 2017, Iconix sued Jay-Z for using Roc Nation on ball caps, claiming it was infringing on the name that was sold to them a decade prior. As such, Jay-Z purchased back the licensing rights to Rocawear for $15 million.
The brand sells streetwear at affordable prices, with hoodies averaging at around $30 on the official website. Unfortunately, the brand has lost quite a bit of its value, which was once $700 million. Today, it is worth $135 million.
