Jemele Hill Signs With WME (EXCLUSIVE)

Jemele Hill has signed with WME for representation in all areas, Variety has learned exclusively.

Hill currently serves as contributing writer for The Atlantic and a creative consultant for Meadowlark Media. She is also a co-founder of Lodge Freeway Media.

At present, Hill is an executive producer on the Colin Kaepernick documentary series “Da Saga Of Colin Kaepernick,” which is directed by Spike Lee and will air on ESPN. She is also developing a scripted comedy series with Gabrielle Union, serves as a writer and creative consultant for the upcoming Netflix docuseries on Simone Biles, and will be the narrator for the upcoming Amazon Audible podcast series Shadowball: Rise of the Black Athlete, which will be release on February 1.

Hill is best known for her time at ESPN, originally joining the sports news powerhouse in 2006 as a national columnist for espn.com. She worked her way up from there to appearing on ESPN shows including “SportsCenter,” “First Take,” “Around the Horn,” “The Sports Reporters,” and “Outside the Lines.”

In 2016, Hill participated in the Emmy Award winning “The President and the People: A National Conversation,” a one-hour town hall with President Barack Obama on race relations, justice, policing and equality.

In 2017, Hill and Michael Smith co-anchored the 6 p.m. “SportsCenter,” which debuted as a more personality-driven approach to the traditional SportsCenter. She then became a senior columnist for The Undefeated (now Andscape), ESPN’s sub-site that focuses on the intersection of sports, race, culture and politics. She ultimately left ESPN in 2018.

Since departing ESPN, Hill began her work at The Atlantic and launched the podcast “Jemele Hill is Unbothered.” In 2020, Hill and her longtime friend and former ESPN anchor Cari Champion launched a weekly late-night show on Vice Network called “Cari & Jemele: Won’t Stick to Sports.” Hill then published “Uphill: A Memoir” with Henry Holt and Company in 2022.
